Characteristics of explosive composite technology

2. Explosive bonding can produce stainless steel composite plates with a total thickness of several hundred millimeters, such as some large bases and tube plates. However, it is not suitable for producing thinner composite steel plates with a total thickness of less than 10 mm.

3. Explosive compounding utilizes the energy of explosives to produce, which can cause vibration, noise, and smoke pollution to the environment. However, the equipment investment is low, and there are hundreds of explosion production factories in China. Due to the limitations of weather and other process conditions, the production efficiency of explosive bonding is relatively low.

Characteristics of hot rolling composite process

1. The use of large medium plate mills and hot continuous mills for production results in high production efficiency and fast supply speed. The product has a large format and can be freely combined in thickness. Stainless steel coating with a thickness of 0.5mm or more can be produced. But due to the large investment, there are fewer manufacturers.

2. Due to the limitation of the compression ratio of rolled steel, hot rolling production is still unable to produce composite steel plates with a thickness of over 50mm, and it is also inconvenient to produce various small batches, circular and other special shapes of composite plates. Advantages of hot-rolled composite plates: Thin gauge composite plates of 6, 8, and 10 mm. Under the condition of hot continuous rolling, composite coils can be produced, reducing production costs and meeting more user needs.

3. Under current technical conditions, the hot rolling process cannot directly produce non-ferrous metal composite plates such as titanium, copper, and aluminum.

In summary, two completely different production processes have their own characteristics, exist and develop simultaneously, and meet the diverse needs of different users. The explosive rolling method is a combination of the aforementioned two processes and will not be repeated.

Cold rolled stainless steel composite plate

On the basis of hot-rolled stainless steel composite plates, production processes such as annealing, acid washing, cold rolling, intermediate annealing, acid washing (or bright annealing) tension straightening and finishing have been carried out to produce stainless steel composite coils (plates) suitable for civilian use. The surface quality of the plates reaches the same series of stainless steel surfaces, and the yield strength is better than that of stainless steel of the same brand. The thinnest layer can reach 0.6mm.

Stainless steel composite plate combines the characteristics of various carbon steel and stainless steel, and is welcomed by users for its excellent performance price ratio, with broad market prospects. But interestingly, since the 1950s, after more than half a century of ups and downs in development, there are still many people who are unaware of it. More people have not used it. It should be said that the market for stainless steel composite plates is gradually entering a mature stage, but there is still much development work to be done.
